Our company started a campaign to cut costs and decided not to purchase herbal tea in the lunch room any longer.

One day a colleague brought in a box of herbal tea and placed it on the counter for everyone to share. A few days later another colleague brought in a second box of herbal tea to share. I found myself purchasing a third box of herbal tea and placed it in the kitchen to share. This simple act of kindness that was started by one person, had a profound effect on myself. It was so much more than just the tea. To me, it was about sharing oneself and how when one person opens the door of kindness it starts a ripple of kindness which happens naturally and with happiness.

I went around the whole business of over 55 people at the time and gave everyone a note that said there is someone who is there for them and praying them through, and another note that said here is a hug (Hershey choc. hug) because 'you are worth a mint' ( mint candy) to uplift everyone because everyone was getting down. Got GREAT feedback!!!

Submit your story of kindness in the workplace or leadership story:: This year for our Christmas Kindness to Community activity we held a "Decorate to Donate" event where staff decorated their office/station for a minimal entry fee of a toonie. All staff participated in the judging, that had the side benefit of new and regular staff going to other parts of the building and meeting staff they didn't know. This event lifted the spirits for everyone as we learned about the many creative talents and personal interests that were reflected in the decorations. Many colleagues donated extra money to this worthy cause and we raised enough money to outfit two medical centres in Africa.

    DOCTOR DOODLE SAYS THANKS OLIVIA

Six year ago today on February 19, 2001, Olivia McIvor generously offered her "Greenhouse Bookstore" as a place for me to exhibit my intuitive artwork. My nickname Is "Doctor Doodle", and Olivia asked me if I would put on a "Doodle Workshop" while my art was displayed. I replied - "What is a Doodle Workshop?" "I don't know what that is or how to do it!" Olivia said - "Pat, you will figure that out!" So, thanks to Olivia I went home and came up with this amazing "Expressive Workshop" that has helped kids of all ages. I have worked with kids in school and people who have Alzheimer's, Parkinson, MS, and Cancer. I have even shown a 53 year old lady, who lost her sight at 21 that her "mine's eye" could still see color. What an amazing eperience for both of us. Olivia's kindness is definitely a true example of the "Ripple Effect". Her positive encouragement and belief in me that "I could do it!" inspired me to create this amazing "fun" workshop that has over flown from me, to "Kids of All Ages." It has helped them express their creativity and also express their emotions in a positive and non-violent way. This shows how powerful our words can be. Thanks Olivia for your positive words and for your inspiration.

    With love and blessings

I have just finished 48 Valentines packages and distributed 40 already in my workplace. Each has a message inside that says "you have been gifted, return in kind in whatever manner your heart desires". It gives me joy. It opens up conversations with people on how kindness makes them feel. I feel richer by far than I have in many years. I feel there is a purpose to what I do and where I am and I am grateful for the change of scenery and energy that allow me to enjoy my sincere self. Some thing I have been hiding for a long time.
